As summer 2019 rolls around, we at Jewelry Design Center know that you’re going to want to put together a look you can wear to a pool party. You’ve got your bikini, a new eye shadow palette, and some heels—but what about your jewelry? No matter your tastes, we have a list of suggestions ready that you can use to put together an ensemble that draws every eye in the room.
As of 2019, charms are still extremely popular, and there’s something to be said for building a piece of jewelry that has your own personal style attached to it. If you’re building a charm bracelet, however, there’s no reason that your charms have to be specifically made for bracelets! For example, if you want to do something DIY this summer, check out the Love Letters collection from Tacori—the whimsical 925 sterling silver pendants in this line can be safely removed from their chain and added to your favorite bangle, adding their sparkle and a letter of your choice to a charm bracelet.
The Art Deco Look
Fashion is fun because nothing is ever truly dead and gone. Styles come in cycles, and in recent years, women have been crazy for the bold, forward-facing aesthetic of the Art Deco period. If you wanted to add a little of the architectural grace of the period to your poolside look, check out the earrings offered by Beverley K. The flapper exuberance in their design is accompanied by bright metals like 18 rose gold and the brilliance of pink and blue sapphires.
Color, Color, Color
But it’s not just Art Deco style that expresses exuberance and positivity. Summer, like spring, is a time of flowers and colors, and there isn’t a better way to express that than with colored gemstones. If you’re looking for a designer who wholeheartedly embraces the most intriguing colored gemstones, turn to Simon G. Their Classic Romance necklaces have stones like blue and watermelon tourmaline and different shades of opal to add a flourish of pigment to your neck.
If you like the “blossoming” aspect of summer, but you’re looking for something different than colored gemstones, John Hardy has something for you. Inspired by the landscape and traditions surrounding their Bali studio, the John Hardy designers take in elements like bamboo, snakes, and lagoons to design their fashion jewelry. In fact, the Bamboo collection, crafted from fine silver, is made to resemble pieces crafted entirely from the curious tropical plant. Definitely a treat for the woman who appreciates wearing a little organic elegance.
Ankle bracelets make a perfect accessory for a cute bikini: They don’t steal the show, but they’re an accent that brings the whole look together, especially if you’re embracing the asymmetrical look and only wearing one anklet. Here at Jewelry Design Center, we have a treasure trove of delicate chain bracelets that can be repurposed as summer anklets, including the Tacori Color Medley collection and the Hearts on Fire Lorelei collection, whose interlocking hearts bracelets are absolutely precious.
And if you’re going to be poolside for most of the summer, why not wear something that inherently screams “the sea?” Pearls, one of nature’s most precious treasures, are a silky-smooth organic jewel that immediately brings to mind warm estuaries and calm seas, with the Core collection from Japanese arthouse Mikimoto really embodying that aesthetic. The addition of dainty 18k white gold bows and blue sapphires only serve to make the Core collection more summery than any other pearl jewelry you could wear this year.
